MIMOS Award Ceremony for Best Student Thesis on Modeling, Simulation and Virtual Reality Application

The Award Ceremony of the MIMOS prize has been held on last 12th November at the National Research Council premises in Rome.
The eight finalist thesis have been presented by the student in a very professional and comprehensive manner in order to explain to the very varied audience the research performed:
  • “Biomechanical analysis of a human knee joint” by Vito Cacucciolo from Mechanical Engineering of Bari Technical University as Bachelor winner.
  • “Parallel and evolutionary applications to cellular automata models for mitigation of lava flow invasions” by Giuseppe Filippone from Computer Science and Mathematics of University of Calabria as PhD winner;
  • “Generalized Trackball and 3D Touch Interaction”, by Luigi Malomo from Computer Science of University of Pisa as bachelor finalist;
  • “Numerical simulation for aerodynamical mapping of race car”, by Jacopo Canestri from Mechanical Engineering of Sapienza University of Rome as bachelor finalist;
  • “Study and development of a simulation platform for surface vessels”, by Michele Martelli from Naval Engineering of University of Genoa as PhD finalist;
  • “Artificial Pancreas: from modeling and control design to SW implementation and clinical data analysis”, by Chiara Toffanin from Electronics Engineering of University of Pavia as PhD finalist;
  • “Islamic terrorism model analysis by system dynamics”, by Alessandro Cardazzone from Business Strategy, of Milan Cattolica University of Sacro Cuore as bachelor special mention;
  • “Modelling and Simulating Human Behavior in Buildings”, by Davide Simeone from Civil Engineering of Sapienza University of Rome as PhD special mention.
The winning students received a €1.500 prize to encourage their studies on modeling and simulation field.
