Call for Paper ITAB 2010

Dal 3 al 5 Novembre 2010 si terrà a Corfu, Grecia, la 10th IEEE International Conference on Information Technology and Applications in Biomedicine

Call for Papers
We would like to cordially invite you to participate in the upcoming 10th IEEE International Conference on Information Technology and Applications in Biomedicine (ITAB 2010).

The overall objective of ITAB 2010 is to cover the state of the art of Information Technology Applications in Biomedicine targeting in offering patient specific health services. The theme of the conference will be:

Emerging Technologies for Patient Specific Healthcare

ITAB 2010 marks the continuation of the previous 9 successful conferences held in Prague in 1997, in Washington DC in 1998, in Amsterdam in 1999, in Virginia in 2000, in Birmingham in 2003, in Ioannina in 2006, in Tokyo in 2007, in Shenzhen in 2008 and in Larnaca 2009.

This year’s ITAB will be held in November 3-5, 2010 in the sunny island of Corfu in Greece

Virtual Reality applications allow surgeons to practice and rehearse the surgical procedures on virtual patients, that are realistic replicas of living patients with actual pathologies, and to experiment various scenarios without risk.In addition, advances in technology are making it possible to develop systems which can help surgeons to perform their tasks in ways which are both faster and safer.
Virtual Reality (VR) technology can guide the physicians and bring them extra information before (diagnosis) or during the procedures (image-guided therapy).
Augmented Reality (AR) technology has the potential to bring the direct visualization advantage of open surgery back to minimally invasive surgery and can increase the physician's view of his surroundings with information gathered from a patient's medical images.
The aim of this Special Session is to present recent advances in VR and AR applications in Medicine and Surgery and to bring together a community of researchers, computer scientists, physicians, surgeons, engineers, to share points of views and emerging and future tools for diagnosis and therapy.
Authors are invited to submit their research contributions or practical experience reports. All papers will be peer reviewed by at least two referees.
